SPIN-A-NEW-S-STORY

Albert Einstein accurately stated that “Creativity is contagious. Pass it on.”
The sound of pleasant chatter and friendly banter, the sharing of creative thoughts and ideas, and collective activity brought back reminiscences of our pre-pandemic school days when offline co-curricular activities were enthusiastically performed and were quite looked forward to by the students. They were escapades from the stressful life of academics and allowed the students to shine in their talents. It was extremely refreshing to see the competitiveness of students blossom again and give rise to a multitude of vivid ideas. Oh, how we had missed these activities in their complete pomp and splendor!
Today, the students of grades 8 to 12 of CMR National Public School took part in the co-curricular activity – ‘Spin-A-New-S-Story’ where each class was divided into groups based on their house color. The students had to read an article from the newspaper belonging to sections such as politics, entertainment, sports, health, and education and use those news elements like characters and the setting of the article to weave their own story. The students could write the story or present it as an illustration in the form of a comic strip. They had to present their work in a structured manner and could also make it as colorful as they wanted.
Our team, consisting of the greenhouse members of class 11 B, narrowed in on an inspiring article about a ten-year-old boy who had trekked to Everest base camp. As our team found this feat extremely impressive, we decided to put ourselves in the shoes of the boy and wrote a story describing the challenges, motivation, and preparation required by such a young individual to accomplish such an achievement. However, this was not an easy activity as it required the amalgamation of various ideas and their presentation as a single plot. Despite the challenge, it was one of the most interesting and creative activities we had participated in. It also helped the students keep up with the current affairs occurring nationally and internationally, whilst making them hone their creativity simultaneously.
Today’s event made us realize how much we had all missed working together as a team in real-time. All of us are extremely grateful for the continuity of offline school and events as the activity not only kindled our creativity, it also deepened the bond of friendship and teamwork as we were able to understand each others’ skills and talents. We continue to look forward to a bright year filled with exciting co-curricular activities!
